Privacy Policy

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Horizon is a local-first to-do app. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what — if anything — is shared with anyone else.

Your task data stays on your device

Everything you enter — task titles, notes, dates, tags, and settings — is stored on your device. There is no Horizon-operated server, and the app never transmits your task data to us. We (the makers of Horizon) cannot see your tasks.

Optional Google Drive sync

If you turn on Drive sync, Horizon stores a single file containing your tasks in Google Drive's hidden app data folder (the drive.appdata scope) under your own Google account. This folder is only visible to Horizon — not to you browsing Drive, and not to any other app. It exists solely to sync your tasks across your own devices; we don't read or access it ourselves.

Optional Google Calendar sync

If you turn on Calendar sync, Horizon creates and updates events on a dedicated, app-created calendar in your Google account (the calendar.app.created scope) to mirror your dated tasks. Horizon can only see and manage the calendar it created — it cannot read or modify your other calendars or events.

Sign-in and tokens

Signing in with Google is only required to use Drive or Calendar sync — the app is fully usable without ever signing in. Access tokens are stored locally: in the browser (short-lived, roughly one hour, with no refresh token retained), in the desktop app's OS-level secure storage, or in the mobile app's Keychain/Keystore, depending on platform. These tokens are never sent to us.

Deleting your data

Disconnecting your Google account revokes Horizon's access to Drive/Calendar. Clearing the app's local data removes your tasks from that device. Deleted tasks are kept briefly (up to about 90 days) as internal markers so sync can tell every device about the deletion, then permanently removed.

Analytics and tracking

Horizon does not use analytics, telemetry, or any third-party tracking. We collect nothing about how you use the app.
